  10. 1001    Welcome!  Thank you for installing Veritape.\n\nTo help you to get familiar with Veritape, this Quick Start Guide will guide you through some of the program's features.\n\nIf you want extra help at any stage, click on the Help button in the bottom left corner.\n\nVeritape is now running, and will run automatically every time you start your computer.\n\nVeritape is free for personal users and for businesses using one copy only. Veritape is free because it contains advertising. If you are a business using 2 or more copies, you are required to register your copies of Veritape - please see the help file for details.\n\nWe hope you enjoy using Veritape,\n\nBlue Starfish

  12. 2000    Configuring your modem
  13. 2001    First, Veritape has to know about your modem.\n\nPlease click the button below and select the modem you wish to use.\n\nSoftware setup will then be complete.
  14. 2002    Setting up your cables
  15. 2003    Before recording calls to your hard disk, you need to make sure that your phone cables are set up properly.\n\nThe 2 options for setting up your phone cables are shown in the diagram below.  Please make sure your phone cables are set up properly.\n\nVeritape will not work if you plug your phone directly into the modem.
  16. 2004    Recording Incoming calls
  17. 2005    When an incoming call is detected, the box shown below will pop up.\n\nClick 'Record' to record the call. Pick up the phone at the same time.\n\nClick 'Don't Record' to skip recording this call.
  18. 2006    Recording Outgoing calls
  19. 2007    To record an outgoing call, right-click on the Veritape icon in the bottom-right of your screen. Choose 'Record' from the menu.\n\nOn the new box, click on the 'Record' button, then pick up the phone and dial normally.\n\nWhen you are finished talking or if you want to stop recording, click the 'Stop Record' button and hang up at the same time.
  20. 2008    Saving Call Details
  21. 2009    When you end the recording, you will see this box. Enter a call description if you wish.\n\nClick 'Play call' to play your call back straight away.\nClick 'Stop' to stop playback.\nClick 'Save call' to save your call.\n\nYou can choose to discard the call by clicking 'DON'T SAVE'.

  23. 2011    To play back your recorded calls, right-click on the Veritape icon and choose 'Playback'.\n\nThe panel shown below will pop up.  You can choose to Play or Delete your calls.\n\nTry it now - there is a sample call waiting for you.
  24. 2012    Suspending Veritape
  25. 2013    In some cases, such as before receiving an incoming call that you know is a fax, you will want to temporarily suspend Veritape. Either:\n\n1) Left-click on the Veritape icon, or\n2) Choose "Suspend" from the Veritape menu.\n\nThe icon will change and the program will not use the phone line.\n\nTo enable Veritape, follow the same steps as described above.

  27. 2015    Choosing 'About' on the Veritape menu shows the program details and also allows you to run this Quick Start Guide again at any time. Here you can also send an email recommending Veritape to a friend, if you wish.
  28. 2016    Stop the recording
  29. 2017    This is the box you will see when your call is being recorded\n\nClick 'Stop Record' at the end of your call. Hang up the phone at the same time.
  30. 3000    You are now ready to use Veritape.
  31. 3001    We hope that you are now familiar with Veritape.\n\nThere are 3 final things:\n\n1) You can press the 'F1' key on your keyboard at any time a Veritape window is open for more detailed help.\n\n2) Any time you are on the phone, you can select 'Record' from the Veritape menu and start recording.  You do not have to do it at the start of the call.\n\n3) The next time you connect to the internet, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. This information will be used to target the advertising you see on Veritape. By including advertising, we are able to keep Veritape free for personal use.\n\nEnjoy Veritape!
